Hello David!
There are 140 mph (in europe with 220 km/h - scale) speedometers in the U.S., too.
The 80 mph - cars are not speed-limited by their engines or transmissions.
FIAT America may think that american drivers do not drive faster than 55 mph.
When you drive faster than 80 mph, the indicator leaves the scale and enters on the left side again :-).
